Eighteen years ago, Innocent Smoothies came up with the idea of asking people to knit small woolly hats to adorn their small smoothie bottles. Their objective, to raise money for the Association les Petits Freres des Pauvres which since 1946 has come to the aid of isolated elderly people. In France 2 million elderly people suffer from social isolation.
Each January Innocent decorates their smoothie bottles with the beanies they have received during the year. With each bottle sold, Innocent gives 20 centimes to the Association. This year the volunteer knitters have created an amazing 300 387 woolly hats!
Who would have thought tiny hats could make such a big difference?
